Ann’s August favesBest books I’m trying to read Coyote America: A Natural and Supernatural History by Dan Flores. Ewww. It’s good. It’s just I’m not feeling it right now. I saw one in Manhattan during the pandemic. It scared the bejesus out of me. When I was in Montana this summer, I heard coyote calls in the morning. But this book combines folklore with science, showing how the coyote is one of America’s most resilient beasts. Driving! I drove to Gaylordsville, Conn., with a ZipCar. Gor-geous. Hills. Farmstands. You name it. Favorite dance steps Pullbacks in tap were never my specialty. It’s when you jump backwards and make two sounds on the landing foot. Urgh. But now I see them as backwards pas de chats, like in ballet. It’s a two-legged situation with one leg starting momentum for the other. Best Wishes for the Fall I want to host an open mic somewhere. I want to get booked for Mrs. Claus gigs in the drag brunch circuit in Hell’s Kitchen. I would play her, very wholesome, but in a slightly bawdy but female-loving crowd.
